FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How partnerships are structured, how outcomes are measured, and how we keep every claim credible and every commitment long-term.

Does the program generate carbon offsets?

No. These projects are additional investments in wildlife and habitat, not carbon offsets or credits, and they do not compensate for a team's emissions. Teams should still work to reduce their own operational footprint. A mascot project is a separate commitment to conservation.

Does the team need to purchase land?

No. Land purchase is one possible tool, not a requirement. Funding can support habitat protection, restoration, conservation easements, wildlife corridors, monitoring, and long-term stewardship — carried out by the conservation partner.

Who selects and manages the conservation project?

Qualified conservation organizations select, design, implement, and manage the on-the-ground work. Home Field coordinates the partnership, communication, and engagement while ecological decisions rest with the experts.

How are ecological outcomes measured?

Conservation partners track and verify measurable outcomes — acres protected or restored, native vegetation established, wildlife activity documented, volunteers engaged, and funds directed to conservation — and report them regularly.

Can a project be located near the team's home market?

We aim for place-based projects that connect to a team's region wherever possible, but ecological need ultimately determines where the work is most credible. We work to find the strongest fit between a mascot and a real conservation need.

How long does a partnership last?

Partnerships are designed as multi-season, long-term commitments with ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and transparent progress reporting — not a one-time campaign.

Can corporate sponsors participate?

Yes. A project can be funded by the team, its corporate sponsors, or both. Home Field structures whichever funding channel fits the partnership.

How can fans and players get involved?

Through volunteer events, educational programming, field updates, wildlife camera footage, player visits, stadium campaigns, limited-edition merchandise, and other ways to participate over multiple seasons.

Who approves environmental and conservation claims?

The conservation experts responsible for the science verify project updates and claims. Home Field coordinates communication so nothing overstated or unsupported reaches the team or its audience.
